I’ve got to say Dundee was an absolutely excellent way to finish my solo three-date Scottish tour. A fun evening spent in good company… but, then again, it must be said that all the gigs have been a brilliant experience for me and each unique in its own way. What made them so special? Well, where do I start? …Probably with the audience…it’s been great to meet and chat with people after the show, the atmosphere has been one of togetherness and the reception has been warm and inclusive.
Another highlight has been people singing along (and in such fine voice)!

There have been requests too…and I’ve bluffed my way through more than a couple of songs that haven’t been played for many a year.

The shows have inspired me to do more solo gigs. There’s a lot of flexibility and spontaneity in the choice of songs as well as the opportunity to pull random stories and anecdotes built up over 42 years of TMTCH shenanigans. I may even write some songs especially for these types of gigs…

Thanks to everyone that came along and showed support. Please share your photos and thoughts online.

This month I’ll record a podcast for SWILLS MUSIC CLUB, themed around this tour and play some tracks from Scottish musicians I met along the way.

After that THE MEN THEY COULDN’T HANG are back in the studio to work on more songs for The Wave …plus our tour kicks off in earnest on Friday 25th September in Esher and Saturday 26th in Margate.

Before that, though, I’m heading to Oban for some songwriting and RnR.

See you down the road.

Cheers,
Swill
